It's not just the Media League that's shooting, editing, and publishing short movies, the THIRD GRADE wants in, too! Mrs. Smith and I collaborated with third grade teachers and helped students make their very FIRST iMovie! After learning about 5 different kinds of shots with Mrs. Smith, the third graders took their iPads to Waihe`e and shot a 5 shot sequence of their story. They brought their photos back to school and the producing began! While watching a teacher created tutorial, the students worked together in their groups to create the project, edit the cropping, adjust the timing, add text, and modify transitions. In less than 2 class periods, these mini-movie makers are ready to share! Keep updated on the News and Announcements of our Pōmaika`i website to find the third graders' Waihe`e stories.
Not only are students producing movies for the first time, but teachers who are new to movie-making attended a mini-workshop in the lab, Techy Time: Make an iMovie in less than 15 minutes! We used the same tutorial as we did with third graders and our excited group of teachers took off on their laptops, iPads, and iPhones and possibly started their second careers as filmmakers ;)
